I am focused on developing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as tools to study complex geofluids and solids in unique media under extreme conditions using multinuclear isotopic handles (e.g., 1/2 H, 7 Li, 13 C, 19 F, 29 Si, 31 P, etc.). These aims are met with custom NMR/MRI instrumentation featuring the use of both high- and low-magnetic fields. Low fields are used for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and imaging, as well as dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) to enhance NMR/MRI signals by several orders of magnitude.
