Dr. Jonathan Ogland-Hand

Research Interests

Jonathan is an engineer turned energy systems analyst and is interested in studying decarbonization. He is currently focused on the electric sector and has researched topics including: Energy storage Geothermal energy CO2 Transportation and geologic storage Utilization of geologically stored CO2 Variable renewable energy integration To to this, Jonathan has developed experience building, using, and integrating tools such as: Capacity expansion models of the electric power system Economic dispatch models of the electric power system Price-taker optimization models Coupled plant-level models of geothermal wells and power plants Cost models of geothermal power plants Cost models of geologic CO2 storage sites Dynamic programs Reservoir simulation When he is not crunching numbers, Jonathan enjoys running, skiing, reading, cooking (and eating!), and cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes.
